Turn Up The Heat?

Have you ever noticed when it starts getting hot in the summer you find out all the different kinds of people there are? There are the ones that don't want to complain about the heat because winter will be here soon enough. Then there are the ones that would just as soon live in the air conditioning 24/7 and never brave the heat, then there are the "Michigan Summer Bums", they live for this stuff.
They are the ones with all the latest beach paraphernalia! They have every sunblock and sun tan ointment known to man, the coolest beach towels, the beach umbrellas or better yet, the beach instant cabana, the Frisbee, the cooler with every thing you need for an entire day at the beach and of course the goggles, boogie boards, swim rings, you name it they got it. They always look nice and tan and are always willing to drop everything to go to the beach at any time. I love these people even though I am not one of them, they amuse me and I am sure I amuse them as well.
I live 10 to 15 minutes from Lake Michigan so it's in my blood to go there. Picture this, you are on the beach enjoying your day with a good book when out of the blue here I come with my 2 daughters, one is 10 years old and the other one is old enough to be her mom. They very much look the part of the "Bums" I on the other hand look like the great white whale that insists that I can carry all our cargo in one trip. While they are getting use to the water I am trying to anchor down all the towels and at just the right angle without getting a ton of sand on everything and when I finally get settled in now I'm HOT so I need to get wet to cool down.
Why don't I ever remember the water being that cold when I was a kid. I finally get use to the water, get cooled down so now I can lay on the towel and get my vitamin D. I walk to the towel and somehow it seems to have gotten step on, twisted and full of sand but the 10 year old claims it wasn't her. So now I shake out the towel again, anchor it down and now I'm HOT....you know where this is going right, so this is my ritual when I go to the beach and when I get home I usually have enough sand in the car to fill a small sandbox but at least we had fun and that's the important part which is what I keep telling myself for the next 3 days until the sunburn cools down. I enjoy the summer, I really do but I would like the temperature to stay around 75 degrees the whole year so I guess I need to move to Hawaii...lol

That's from my angle hope you enjoyed it!

What Kinda Day Is This?

Where I live, one minute it can be crazy hot or crazy cold, not depending on the season but depending on the day. One day you have your AC blaring and the next you switch on the heat. Where else can you get frostbite and sunburned on the same day? Days like today when it's so gloomy I just want to curl up with a good book and something wonderful to drink and soft music in the background. Some people get depressed on days like today but I have decided to change the mood to my favor by taking out those hundreds of candles I bought from all those candle parties I went to help support friends. I inhale the warm sweet smells and it relaxes me. I try not to buy the ones that smell like foods, that's too dangerous, unless it's cinnamon of course.
So take control of your day! Make it sweet smelling, warm and cozy don't let it get you down.
Look at it from your own angle...have fun doing so.

Do we really have to be grown ups?

I've decided to keep a diary of sorts. Observations if you will about life. Depending on your age usually sets your priorities in life. When you're a kid your priorities are how much fun can I have in one day and is there some treat at the end of the day to make it all worth while. When you're an adult it may seem different but really we are still essentially setting the same priorities but we push them back while we do our, "Grown Up" stuff. You know, work, whether it be at home or out in the actual workforce we still try to fit in as much fun as we can have in one day and hope that at the end of it there is some sort of treat to make it all worth while.
If you are all work and no play then you are missing out on life. I find that no matter how miserable I feel if someone smiles my way or is kind to me, even by something simple like opening a door, it makes me feel as if, "ya know what, life has highlights every day, I just need to look for them" and then I smile and pay it forward to the next person who may be having a miserable day.
We can take lessons from our critters too. I have a dog, she is a Chorkie (Chihuahua/Yorkie mix), she weighs a whole five pounds and her name is Chloe. She's content to curl up in a ball on my lap for as long as she can and just relax and sleep, that's her job but she also takes time to do crazy stuff. Suddenly she will chase a toy or just pounce around growling for no reason or making funny sounds and twisting her head from side to side when you talk to her. The point is it really doesn't matter to her if we understand her mood or not she just captures the moment and makes the most of it and that's what we should push ourselves to do. Don't take life so seriously that we forget to look at things from different angles or different perspectives. Be a critter and live on the lighter side of things from time to time.
